List of Explosive Materials

coderman: i'm still pissed amatuer rocketry got so screwed after 9/11
coderman: TATP - i bet this has the highest accidental maim/kill rate of any chemical on this list. heheh

Estimating and Comparing Entropy Across Written Natural Languages Using PPM Compression

simmo: randomness estimates for different language texts compared to english, by compressing the text and measuring the entropy
simmo: all around the same as English, which is certainly less than 2 bits per character, and perhaps close to 1 bpc 1 2
simmo: but that doesn't count trolls trying to cause collisions in your wiki hashing database by injecting nonsense data .. you need to prune that out first
simmo: then set an upper page size and calculate how many bits of hash you need to use to ID the pages

JXTA - A Whole Lotta Nothing

coderman: ouch!

Titan Rain: independant career blackhats or organized military operation

coderman: in either case, i want to know more about these counter-hack attacks we've performed in retribution
coderman: titan rain attacks
coderman: "Of course it's the government. Governments will pay anything for control of other governments' computers. All governments will pay anything. It's so much better than tapping a phone."
coderman: <EvilAsh> ... anything?
coderman: bruce reminds us the current reports are low on detail and high on sensationalism

huslage: The hight of hedonism and egoism.

Brazil. Where death is illegal.

rik: "BIRITIBA MIRIM, Brazil (AP) -- There's no more room to bury the dead, they can't be cremated and laws forbid a new cemetery. So the mayor of this Brazilian farm town has proposed a solution: outlaw death."

./~ The Internet is for Pooooorn

rik: work-safe if you have no speakers.

coderman: (^_^) !!! XOXOXO

<slashdot> is java a fad?

coderman: more amorphous questions at 10
seti: at 10? early...

if it pop .. no one can mend it

Get It Right

coderman: by J. Random Pedant
simmo: oh I thought that was J. Fucking Pedant

Devastating hack proven - Leon County dumps Diebold

coderman: "Due to contractual non-performance and security design issues, Leon County (Florida) supervisor of elections Ion Sancho has announced that he will never again use Diebold in an election. He has requested funds to replace the Diebold system from the county."
coderman: "On Tuesday, the most serious “hack” demonstration to date took place in Leon County. The Diebold machines succumbed quickly to alteration of the votes. This comes on the heels of the resignation of Diebold CEO Wally O'Dell, and the announcement that a stockholder's class action suit has been filed against Diebold by Scott & Scott."
coderman: OH YEAH, DIE MOTHERFUCKER!!!
coderman: what is surprising is the stock went up when he resigned
coderman: i still the company is going to die though...
simmo: I am worried by this. My local ATM is made by Diebold. Where's my fucking money? Do they know?
simmo: who else knows?
coderman: [A law firm said it filed suit on Tuesday against Diebold Inc. alleging the voting-machine maker lacked sufficient internal controls, was unable to be confident in the quality of its voting machines and made misleading statements about its condition... lawsuit was filed by Scott + Scott LLC in U.S. District Court for the Northern District of Ohio and seeks class-action status|http://today.reuters.com/PrinterFriendlyPopup
coderman: sorry, link here
seti: ATMs in the Netherlands seem to be mostly Olivetti. luckily the PIN pad is a mostly autonomous system; also, the banks stand to lose money if the ATMs don't work correctly so they're held to a much larger standard than voting machines.

so much hash, so little cash, how do i choose?

simmo: NESSIE survey
simmo: link stolen from tiger hash page .. tiger looks good considering momentum towards 64 bit

<burtonator> goatse photo stamps would RULE

1970s roller-skate jams

Software Ciphers Suck! Software Ciphers Suck!

coderman: (i'm trying to get intel / amd attention)
coderman: The Program Counter Security Model: Automatic Detection and Removal of Control-Flow Side Channel Attacks
coderman: Cache-timing attacks on AES
simmo: http://cr.yp.to/snuffle.html
simmo: drifting off topic ... DJB vs USA relating to snuffle
coderman: salsa++. basic summary: use 256bit keys. because it's not that much more work than 128bit keys.
simmo: you left out the bit about keep-it-simple-stupid .. risc-like/risc-friendly hashing ... repetitive simple ops, so that cache is used well, so more ops can be done to balance the simple ops being used .. => wide effective portability .. and then a crypto based on using hashes (the hases are no good for replacing md5 etc though because they are 1:1 size of input data :p )
coderman: cmon, software ciphers are so last millenium!
simmo: with clever small ciphers, hardware implementation is much easier/better/smaller
simmo: or anyway, that's what the page says
coderman: hardware block ciphers, hardware digests, hardware montgomery multipliers for pubkey, and hardware entropy sources. why isn't this in my CPU 5 years ago Intel/AMD???
coderman: it's a conspiracy i tell you! :P~

ISAKMP is a 0-day slut

coderman: KAME sucks
coderman: i want a synchronized pre-shared key daemon that opens no slutty ports!
coderman: google: IPsec key daemon vulnerability = Results 1 - 100 of about 51,800
