jillzilla: This fits with my theory that Trump doesn't know that competence is a thing. I think he sees the world like a reality TV programme, where if you say the right things and project the right image people will respond to that. Which is true as far as it goes, but there is also the matter of the actual world to deal with.
jillzilla: It also shows Trump's off the charts unjustified self-confidence. President Dunning-Kruger doesn't know leadership competence is a thing and believes himself to be very smooth and credible when talking about governance and management, fields about which he knows almost nothing (and in which he 'knows' things that are wrong and counterproductive)
jillzilla: So he thought he was leading well when he tried to avoid panic about the coronavirus by actively lying to the American public about it.
